Outdoor recreation carries real risk
Outdoor recreation, camping, backcountry travel and off highway vehicle use involve inherent risks, including injury, property damage, becoming stranded, exposure, wildlife encounters and death. Those risks cannot be removed by instruction, equipment or good company. You take them on voluntarily.
Anyone taking part in a Foundation event is responsible for their own decisions, their own vehicle and their own passengers. Event participation may require a signed waiver, proof of insurance and compliance with the managing agency's rules. Participants may be asked to leave an event for unsafe conduct.
Educational material is general, not personal advice
Everything published here is general information for a general audience. It is not a substitute for training, for the manufacturer's instructions for your equipment, or for the current rules of the land you are on. Recovery, winching and water crossings are dangerous when done wrong, and reading about them is not the same as being taught them.
Conditions and regulations change
Trail conditions, water levels, seasonal closures, hunt dates, permit requirements and access rules change constantly and without notice. Route information here is a record of what we found on a particular day, not a guarantee of what you will find. Always check the current notices from the agency that manages the land before you travel.
Follow the law
Stay on legal, designated routes. Obtain required permits. Respect closures. Do not enter private property. Nothing on this site authorises access to anywhere, and we will not help anyone travel somewhere they are not permitted to be.
Radio licensing
GMRS and amateur radio both require a license. We teach and demonstrate radio use, we do not issue licenses, and operating without the correct one is your responsibility and not something we support.
